Went to the Oakdale park for the first time. Aside from folding my ankle I had a good time. I was trying to do a 180 ollie over this gigantic flatbar. If you’ve been there you know how big it is. Anyway, on the drive home I was chatting with Dooner and he called me a ‘bitter old man’. I was complaining about the things that bother me in skateboarding today. Like what you ask? Josh Harmony, gross combo tricks, Jesus, Torry Pudwill, Terry Kennedy, Deathwish, 1031, facial tattoos, you name it. Even Hosoi. I was saying how I would have rather hung out with him when he thought he was Christ rather than a boring bible thumper. After saying something about how dumb TK’s teeth look Dooner just laughed and chimed in with his ‘bitter old man’ take. He says he’s not hating on any skaters and that shit doesn’t bother him. It got me wondering why I do let certain things bother me. I should appreciate Pudwill for his skating, Duffel for sticking with his gear all these years, Svitak for creating his own company. Terry Kennedy’s teeth and Pudwill’s neck do not affect my life whatsoever. I should just live and let live. I love skateboarding and most everything that comes along with it. But then I got to thinking about the kids at the Oakdale park. There were some normal skater kids there but there were also a couple jocked out kids that I just cannot accept as skateboarders. Give them a ball send them on their way. My point is that I could strive to appreciate all skaters equally but at this moment I can’t tell if it’s worth the effort. Plus it’s just kind of fun to rag on dumb shit. Hater.
