A week ago I made a prediction, that prediction was way off. Tony Hawk skating the White House amounted to little more that links on several news aggregates. Before making further predictions in the future, I will be sure to focus on news stories released on Monday as opposed to Friday.
The death of Michael Jackson is a good story for many, Mark Sanford comes to mind. This sorry excuse for a cum depositor has all the attention of his misdeeds shifted to Jack-O dying from a possible overdose. I didn’t realize so many people still cared about Jack-O, I have to imagine at least half of these people, if polled the day before would have had negative things to say about him. it’s incredible what death can do for your image. Out of respect for the dead, and one third of the Triquemini, I will reserve my comments on Michael. Yet you can’t help but feel bad for Farrah Fawcett, yesterday could have been her biggest day in the spotlight, and it was usurped after about five hours. Just imagine how bad the ratings (if they could have been any worse) would have been if the President would have had his town hall a day later.
The bad, depending on how you see it, is that Iran also gets off the hook for it’s regimes horrible actions, while Michael was being rushed to the hospital, protesters were being tortured to death, and will continue to be for many weeks to come. It always comes as a shock where news room priorities lie, but ten to twelve days of the same story is about as much as anyone can take in the 21st century. The days of misfitting gloves and stained dresses are over.
On a lighter note, this week also saw the greatest basketball player in the world traded to a team with someone who I witnessed storm off the court when he lost a playoff series about six weeks ago, this is what losers usually do when they don’t get their way. Sorry Cleveland, Phoenix didn’t make the playoffs last season, and you may not this coming year, but keep your heads up, it was a good run. Mean while, The Vikings are also hedging their bets on another eighteen year vet to bring glory to their doorstep, at least Cleveland will have an example on how their season will end.
Skateboarding reamins affordable, and I hope it continues to. This summer so far has been good for skating, except for those living on the eastern seaboard. Those of us out here can hope that May showers came a month late and we will be rewarded with a late autumn, according to Al Gore, the whole world by this point should be having extended autumn periods, those of you in Minnesota know better, but my fingers are crossed for you anyway.
Maybe I’m alone on this, but I would rather lose with Tavaris than win with Favre. Farve is here for vengence. I just don’t want to be a part of that. I predict by the time the ground is unskateable, Farve will be out for the year with an injury.
Inebriated Andrew-As an on-again Vikings fan (I gave them up from ages 8-31) I don’t think we are in the position to pick our winners. We have the record for most Super Bowl losses. (It’s a three way tie) I would be happy if Golden Years took it all the way, but I do see your point on the revenge tip.
